Can the Cleveland Browns Win the Super Bowl This Season?

by Sophia

The Browns now have the 13th-shortest odds of any NFL club to win the Super Bowl at online sportsbooks, and the ninth-shortest odds of any AFC team, at +3000. When the Browns’ current Super Bowl odds of +3000 are converted, they have a 3.2% chance of winning Super Bowl LVIII in 2024.

The Browns’ +1800 odds to win the AFC Championship are the ninth-best in the league, trailing only the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals, Baltimore Ravens, New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Los Angeles Chargers. However, there is a significant difference in odds between the Chargers (+1300), who have the eighth-best chances in the AFC, and the Browns (+1800).

With +350 odds to win the AFC North, the Browns are projected to finish third. Cleveland is substantially less likely to win the AFC North than the Bengals (+180) and Ravens (+200).

In the 2023 season, the Browns have +115 odds of making the playoffs and -135 odds of missing out. This suggests that oddsmakers believe the Browns are more likely to miss the playoffs than make them.

Browns vs. AFC North Super Bowl Odds

The Cleveland Browns (+3000) have the third-best odds to win Super Bowl 58 among AFC North clubs, trailing only the Pittsburgh Steelers (+5000). The Browns are one of just four teams to have never appeared in a Super Bowl. Cleveland hasn’t advanced past the divisional round of the playoffs since 1989. These odds place a lot of faith in Deshaun Watson to repair this shattered franchise.

With +1100 odds, the Cincinnati Bengals lead all AFC North clubs and have the fifth-shortest chances of any NFL football team to win the Super Bowl this season. The Bengals, like the Browns, have yet to win a Super Bowl… but they have advanced to the AFC Championship game in each of the last two seasons and represented the AFC in Super Bowl LVI.

The Baltimore Ravens (+1800) are the second-best odds in the AFC North and the eighth-best odds in the NFL to win Super Bowl LVIII. Baltimore has only appeared in two Super Bowls in its history, but it has won both of them. They have not advanced past the divisional stage of any postseason since winning Super Bowl XLVII in 2012.

Among AFC North clubs, the Pittsburgh Steelers (+5000) have the worst odds to win Super Bowl 58. Every year, Mike Tomlin assures that the Steelers remain a competitive club… but Pittsburgh has not won a playoff game since 2016. The Steelers last appeared in a Super Bowl in 2010, and they last won the Lombardi Trophy in 2008.
